Architecture of Engineering Constructions
Major: Architecture
The discipline provides students with the necessary knowledge about the specific architectural problems of engineering structures, which are an essential part of the spatial living environment built by man. On the basis of a functional classification the functional, technical and economic, and architectural and aesthetic characteristics of engineering structures are studied. The fundamental principles of morphology, composition and colouring, the possibilities for harmonic integration of ...
CAD - ALLPLAN FT NEMETSCHEK
Major: Architecture
The course introduces the customers in the methods of computer drafting with CAD- ALLPLAN FT - NEMETSCHEK specialized for architectural and constructional design. The basics of 2-D and 3-D computer drafting, visualization and animation of models are studied. The successful completion of the course gives the students a basic skills in computer design of 2-D and 3-D building models.
Colour in Architecture
Major: Architecture
The purpose of the course is applying a methodological approach when designing a living space. The lecturing course starts with a brief historical overview of the theory of light and colour, reveals the physiological, psychological and emotional (spiritual) influences on human beings, and studies the main principles of colour solutions in interior and exterior. Through practical exercises the students acquire skills in space analysis, taking into account its purpose and the impression it is ...
Contemporary American Architecture
Major: Architecture
The course is available to all interested students. The stress in the lectures falls on the leading role of the American architecture during the last decades. The retrospective series of lectures, dedicated to the 20th century architecture discuss a wide range of problems, make historic comparisons, show the relations between current phenomena in the USA, in Europe and in Bulgaria. Each lecture is accompanied by 160 - 200 slides, projected on two screens, and video films.
Energy Efficient Architecture
Major: Architecture
Within 15 lectures and 15 seminars students master the norms, techniques and methods of the energy efficient investigation, assessment, design and renovation of architectural and building objects. The course covers problems of the influence of space organisation, planning characteristics and properties of building materials and products on human health in the occupation sphere.
History of High Rise Buildings
Major: Architecture
This elective course is held in the 10 (Summer) semester of studies in Architecture. The 'History of Skyscrapers' is regarded as a very important part of the World History of Architecture during the last 120 years. This is a specific view, necessary to the architects, towards the extreme achievements of architecture, structures, and building technologies since the end of the 19 century up to the present. The students are also acquainted with the creative biographies of element designers of ...
Industrial (or Agrarian) Buildings - Executive Project
Major: Architecture
On the basis of a preliminary project, developed by the student, a detailed design is developed, taking into account the following: the detailed design should cover a whole small building or an independent part of a building; all requirements for a detailed project and all effective regulations should be adhered to. An explanatory note and all required plans, sections and specifications should be presented.
Industrial (or Agrarian) Buildings - Pre - Diploma Project I
Major: Architecture
The project is developed in two modules. The first one deals with the planning of an industrial or an agricultural complex, including the functional and communication integration to the neighbouring settlements. In the second module the objects of the sanitary and hygiene units in agricultural and industrial buildings are developed.
Industrial (or Agrarian) Buildings - Pre - Diploma Project II
Major: Architecture
The project is developed in two modules as a natural continuation of the first pre-diploma project. In the first module the objects of the Complex communal services (CCS) in agrarian and industrial complexes are developed in detail. In the second module energy efficient solutions of sections of CCS, subsidiary production, social and residential objects are examined.
