Composite Bridges - Project Assignment
Students, successfully developed the project should have designed a superstructure of a real bridge. The project includes the design of the main girder including the different construction and service conditions, and the joint between the steel girder and the concrete plate. The structure will be presented by the drawings: general arrangement, cross section of the deck, assembly scheme and working drawing of an assembly unit of the main bearer.
Computer Aided Analysis of Transport Structure
Students acquire knowledge related to the disciplines Statics of Structures, Theory of Elasticity and Plasticity, Stability and Dynamics of Structures. Algorithms for nonlinear static and dynamic analysis of structures are developed. Reinforced concrete- and steel structures taken from the design practice (buildings and bridges) are modelled. Computer-aided seismic analysis of structures is carried out in compliance with the Bulgarian codes.

Harbour Construction
After finishing this course and after graduation engineers may begin their career as designers in teams working out general plans for new sea and river harbours, or extension and reconstruction of existing harbours. They will be able to design gravity and notch-type quay walls, mound-type (sloped) breakwaters, vertical-wall (caisson-type) breakwaters, warehouses, roads and railways in the harbour yard. They can work in harbour construction sites as foremen.
