The aim of the discipline is to extend the knowledge of the future structural engineers on the basic problems of the reconstruction and modernization of buildings and facilities with steel bearing structure. The general ways for reconstruction of plate and truss elements – beams and columns are given, as well as the possibilities for static scheme change. The ways for strengthening of the connections with welding and bolts are considered, as well as strengthening of the different construction joints. The basic of the seismic design of the bearing structures is given.
