In 2007–2008 academic year the Faculty of Geodesy launched a new degree programme
“Land and Real Estate Management and Planning” at Bachelor’s level.

Education is full-time, with duration of 8 semesters, the last 8 weeks of the eight semester being devoted to diploma project development. 

The “Land and Real Estate Management and Planning” Curriculum includes 55 courses (in this 5 elective) with a total of 2985 academic hours in 8 semesters. Five practical and field training are foreseen during the study aimed at increasing the educational effectiveness. 

Training is provided in the form of classes (lectures and seminars), laboratory exercises, practical and field training. Instruction is in Bulgarian. For some courses, individual training (consultation) in a foreign language is possible (see course annotations).

Graduates of Planning and Land and Real Estate Management and Planning will perform activities related to:

  • Development of planning schemes and plans of agricultural, protected and damaged territories;
  • Development of projects for sustainable land management;
  • Assessment of real estates in case of transformation, acquisition, administration
    and change of use;
  • Valuation of real estates in case of compulsory expropriation, mortgage,
    granting credits, insurance, concession, legal proceedings, procedures and
    transactions;
  • Assessment and reassessment of fixed assets, according to the accounting
    standards as well as for bank guaranties;
  • Development of investment and ecological projects;
  • Real estate management;
  • Expert and consulting activities in administration, acquisition and maintenance of real estates.

Graduates may make their way up in:

  • executive bodies of the state and municipal administration;
  • ministries and other state organizations;
  • judicial bodies and notary offices;
  • bank and tax administration;
  • companies developing projects in planning and management of lands and properties;
  • real estate agents, design and consultancy bureaus.

Academic calendar
The exact academic calendar is determined each year by the Academic Council of the University.

The academic year consists of two semesters – autumn and spring, each one of 15 weeks.
Autumn semester usually starts in October and ends at the beginning of January. Submission of projects, one regular and one supplementary examination session follow the autumn semester.
Spring semester starts at the end of February after the winter vacation and lasts till the beginning of June, followed by diploma project submission, examination session and field training outside the University (in June/July).
The annual supplementary examination session is in September.

Submission of diploma project is provided twice in the academic year – at the end of the summer – and winter semester.
