The aim of the course is to present the dynamic development of the environmental problems and the sustainable development of the modern world as well as their impact on the theory and practice of spatial planning. The EU policy on environmental protection and sustainable development and its application under the Bulgarian conditions is analysed. The expected results of the training include obtaining of knowledge on the principles set at the root of the sustainable development idea, acquiring skills for definition and critical assessment of strategies for environmental protection and sustainable development in particular spatial, social and cultural conditions.
