Steel Structures

Steel Structures

Basic knowledge is given by the lecture course on the design of members and connections of the steel structures. The steel as a structural material is presented: the typical stress-strain curve and factors affecting the behaviour; basic properties of structural steel and so on. The design of steel members under various loading conditions is considered. A more particular attention is given to some typical stability problems, including overall flexural and lateral-torsional bucking and local plate buckling. Detail knowledge is provided on the structural behaviour, calculations and design of welded and bolted connections. Introductory information is given on some production problems, including post-welding residual stresses and deformations.
