The aim of this course is to introduce knowledge about the response of reinforced concrete structures subjected to seismic action and the essentials in the design principles. Matters of seismology, design and detailing of frame structures, reinforced concrete cores, coupled walls, floor structures and foundations are discussed as well as retrofit and strengthen existing reinforced concrete structures in earthquake regions.
In seminar classes students are introduces to the principles of capacity design, analysis modeling and detailing of monolithic reinforced concrete frame structures, situated in seismic areas.
Completing the course gives students the ability to design reinforced concrete frame structures, subjected to seismic action.
