Engineering Rock Mechanics

This discipline is aimed at enhancing the knowledge of students pursuing Master of Geotechnical Engineering degree. Selected topics complementing the knowledge on Soil and Rock Mechanics, especially in the applied portion of the discipline are considered. The main topics are: earth, rock and mixed massifs’ stability; destruction mechanisms in rock massifs; loading of structures – seismic, earth and landslide pressure; bearing capacity of earth and rock bed, etc. Slope stability analysis in rock and earth massifs, using appropriate computer software is included in the course syllabus too.
