Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology

The discipline acquaints the students with the following Earth Sciences: Petrography - types and origin of minerals and rocks, typical farms of embedding; Geotectonics - structure and evolution of the Earth, contemporary geotectonic processes and phenomena; Geology of Bulgaria - distribution of the various rock types and their impact on relief; Geomorphology - typical geomorphologic forms and ways of formation; Engineering Geology - types of construction soils, basic geotechnical parameters, geodynamic phenomena and processes (weathering, erosion, abrasion, rock-falls, landslides), distribution, methods of investigation; Hydrogeology - types of groundwater, formation, distribution, protected areas.
