Applied Geomechanics

Applied Geomechanics

The behaviour of soil massifs (of cohesionless soils mainly) under static and dynamic actions is considered. The basic geomechanical processes in earth crust and their effect on the soil behaviour are explained. The principal equations for modelling the stress-strain state of multiphase soil massifs are also given along with a some applied solutions of geomechanics. The approaches to estimating the dynamic properties of the soils required for their analysis are considered and the methods of field and laboratory testing are explained in detail. Basic knowledge of geotechnical design in seismic regions are also taught.
