The subject “Topographic Cartography” acquaints students pursuing the degree programme of Geodesy with the essence, contents, composition and ways of usage of the Bulgarian topographic maps. Technologies of map composition and updating are considered. The ways of depicting relief shapes on the topographic maps through isolines, elevations and symbols are studied. Projects for acquaintance of students with the symbolic system and the formation of topographic maps are envisaged. The knowledge and skills acquired in this discipline will be of help for the correct use of topographic maps and better understanding of the material in subjects studied in the next semesters, such as Geoinformatics, Cadastre, Cartography, etc.
