The first underwater dive with equipment for the new group of UACEG divers

On Children's Day - 01.06.2024 the first diving under water with equipment for the new group of divers of UACEG took place in the pool of TU-Sofia, carried out with the help of diving instructors from diving club Neptune, Plovdiv - Sofia section.

For the second consecutive year, specialized diving training is conducted, in which, in addition to diving qualifications, students acquire the important practical knowledge and skills for conducting diving descents and inspections of facilities and coastlines.
The first stage of diving training is related to the acquisition of the basic principles of diving. It is theoretical and ends with a test.
The second stage is practical and is divided into two parts. The first part is an introduction to the diving equipment and descent into a pool, and the more interesting second part will take place at the end of August on the Black Sea in the town of. The second part of the course will be on the Black Sea in Tsarevo. There for 10 days under the guidance of experienced instructors future divers will conduct a series of diving descents, during which they will learn basic diving habits and skills.

At the end of the training and after meeting the requirements for certification, a deep dive to 18m and practical work on planning and conducting a diving survey is planned.

"UNDERWATER OBSERVATION OF SURFACES, SHORE STRANDS AND WETLANDS" is an optional course for the 4th year students of the Hydraulic Engineering Faculty, Structural Engineering Faculty and Transportation Engineering Faculty of UACEG. The leading lecturer is Assoc.Prof. Angel Zahariev from the Department of Hydraulic Engineering and Hydromelioration at HEF. In addition to teaching at HEF, Assoc.Zahariev is a certified diver with many years of experience in underwater descents.
The course starts in 2023 and provides students with the knowledge and skills to independently navigate the field of underwater surveys and inspections of structures and coastal areas and to formulate goals and objectives of underwater surveys according to specific conditions and needs.
For those students who wish to become certified as competent divers, the opportunity is provided to acquire a diving qualification under the international CMAS or IANTD systems.
