Students of Hydraulic Engineering have 49–50 courses with a total of 4300 academic hours and participate also in practices and internships for a total of over 400 hours.
In the first four semesters the training follows a unified academic curriculum.
After the 4th semester students in Hydraulic Engineering pursue one of the following two specialities:
- Irrigation and Drainage Engineering (with 2 profiles: Irrigation Systems and Drainage Systems);
- and Hydraulic Structures (with 2 profiles: Water-Power Stations and Derivative Systems, and Hydraulic Structures).
Splitting of students by profiles is made in the 9th semester.
Training is provided in classes (lectures and seminars), laboratory exercises, practical and field training and pre-diploma field training in design companies and organisations.
Instruction is in Bulgarian.
The graduates obtain state diplomas for completed higher education in the respective programme, with the professional qualification Master-Engineer in Hydraulic Engineering (profile Hydraulic Structures or Irrigation and Drainage Engineering).
