Overview

The Department provides teaching in the following courses: Timber and Plastic Structures; Metal Structures; Special Steel Structures; Steel Bridges; Fabrication of Steel Structures; Composite Steel and Concrete Structures; Earthquake Resistant Design of Structures.
 

The Department trains students in the following courses: Timber and Plastic Structures; General and Specific Steel Structures; Steel Bridges; Composite Structures; Seismic Design of Structures.

Research and post-graduate studies are carried out in the following fields: Analysis of steel structures accounting for non-linear effects and imperfections; Harmonising Bulgarian structural steel design code with the Eurocodes; Structures testing under static and dynamic loads.

Lecturers from the department participate in the training of students of the Faculties of Structural Engineering, Architecture, Transportation Engineering, Hydrotechnics and Geodesy.
