Geodetic Astronomy

Geodetic Astronomy

Students get basic knowledge on: -Theoretical Astronomy – fundamentals of celestial mechanics, theory of Earth rotation and laws on motion of stars; -Spheroidal Astronomy – mathematical theory of the visible locations of the stars and their change over time; -Practical Astronomy – astronomic methods and instruments for determination of astronomic latitude, longitude and azimuth; The place and importance of Geodetic Astronomy for Geodesy is considered, as well as the opportunity for astronomic methods application in the solution of some current scientific and practical problems.
