Practical Training in Topographic Cartography

The aim of this practical training is to develop skills for terrain orientation following a topographic map, to recognize and classify real topographic objects and to plot them approximately on the map.
For this purpose, according to the route-recognition method, a necessity of updating of a topographic map on M 1:200000 is decided on. New and changed objects in an area are recognized and, according to the requirements on the contents and formation of topographic maps are plotted on a specially prepared copy of a map.
This practical training takes place during the second semester in two consecutive rest-days. Students travel outside Sofia by bus and sleep in a hotel.
