Building Insulations
Major Structural Engineering
Faculty Faculty of Structural Engineering
Department Building Materials and Insulations
Lead Lecturer Prof. Dr. Eng. Dimitar Nazarski

Students study the methods of design and execution of the main insulations systems of buildings and facilities: waterpoofing, thermal insulation, noise insulation, fire protection and corrosion protection. The module of waterpoofing is related to flat roofs, underground parts and some special facilities such as reservoirs, bridges, etc. The module of thermal insulation is related to the thermal and moisture comfort and energy savings in both winter and summer periods. The module of corrosion is related to the protection of the steel and reinforced concrete structures and appropriate methods of durability improvement according to the type of the aggressive environment. The module of fire protection is related to the passive methods of fire resistance assuring. The noise insulation module gives basic skills to design, evaluate and perform the noise insulation systems.
