The course includes the following main topics: type, flow rates and composition of municipal wastewater; environmental and water-related legislation; basic methods, selection of treatment process flow diagrams; methods and facilities for mechanical and biological wastewater and sludge treatment; advanced wastewater treatment for nitrogen and phosphorus removal. After finishing the course, students can estimate flow rates and loads, to take part in the selection, analysis and design of treatment operation and processes of municipal wastewater treatment plants.
