The aim of the discipline is to explain correctly the Bulgarian architectural heritage; to elucidate the way of its development through the centuries, its national originality, the favourable influence of the neighbouring countries, the elements of near and remote cultures, woven into its texture; to determine correctly and objectively the most characteristic and valuable architectural monuments, which mark out the development of architecture and culture.
