The lecture course is developed in three parts: 1. History of parks and gardens is studied in the light of the cultural history of mankind from antiquity to the 20th century. Changes in landscape and the influence of philosophy, religion, town planning and art on the attitude to nature and on park art are traced back. 2. Basic principles of composition in the park architecture and participation of the different elements – relief, water, vegetation, structural elements, lane network, architectural and ornamental objects and facilities. With the help of analyzing contemporary realizations basic knowledge about developing diverse park-planning assignments is provided. 3. Basic knowledge of landscape and landscape planning.
