The design of buildings and structures in most cases does not take into account the changes of the properties of materials over time under the influence of the environment. Therefore, the service life of the buildings and structures becomes shorter and the costs for capital repairs rise.
The main purpose of this subject is to acquaint students with the changes in the physical and mechanical properties of the building materials caused by weather conditions and maintenance factors. Besides, they will learn about the methods for analysis, assessment, forecasting and betterment of building materials’ durability as well as their compliance in structures, products, etc.
