Goals and objectives of the subject: Goals and objectives of the subject: To achieve a deeper knowledge of the ways of transferring loads in complex structures. To study more efficient and faster methods for determining internal forces. Gain deeper knowledge of displacements into statically determinate and indeterminate structures.
Characteristics of the subject: Study of the kinematical analysis of structures. Methods for composition of diagrams of internal forces in statically determinate and indeterminate structures (force method). Energy theorems and determination of displacements in statically determinate and indeterminate structures.
Acquired knowledge: Knowledge of the stress - strain state of statically determinate beams, frames with different outlines (including curvilinear) and with various supports and releases, as well as statically indeterminate plane beams and frames. The concept of generalized displacements, diagrams of projected displacements and methods of composition of influence lines for internal forces and reactions in statically determinate systems.
Acquired skills: To analyse the ways of kinematical analysis of complex structures. To determine the internal forces and displacements in statically determinate and indeterminate structures. To determine the influence lines in statically determinate systems.
Preliminary requirements:
In order to achieve the level of education put in the current curriculum the students must have knowledge on fundamental subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Theoretical mechanics and Strength of materials, and last but not least Soil mechanics.
