The module aims at developing understanding of and a critical approach to the concept of sustainable development, as well as assessment of existing social, cultural and economic framework in which these ideas develop. Learning outcomes: Knowledge of the basic principles of sustainable development and environmentalism and their relationship with planning theory and practice. Skills of formulation and appraisal of environmental policy and its application to specific development locations and schemes.
