The student perform structural design of a steel railway or highway girder bridge. Only the bridge superstructure is considered. The work starts with the development of the structural general arrangement. Detailed calculations are carried out of the deck structure, bracing system and the main plate- or truss girders. The primary structural joints are designed and the relevant connections are calculated. One of the bearings is also designed as steel roller or rocker beating. The drawings submitted include framing plans, detailed cross-section, details of principal structural joints and drawing with selected structural members.
