Goals and objectives of the subject: To supplement the knowledge obtained in course of statics of structures by giving practical orientation to the taught material.
Characteristics of the subject: The practice is a natural continuation of the disciplines "Statics of structures Part I" and " Statics of structures Part II". The practice explains some more complex structures such as beams on elastic foundations and tunnels on elastic foundations, combined structures. Determining internal forces and influence lines. Basic concepts from FEM are given and an indeterminate frame is solved by comparing with previously obtained results from a manual solution.
Acquired knowledge: Basic concepts of FEM. Basic concepts of beams on elastic foundations and mixed structures. Characteristics of the influence lines of and the internal forces in the listed constructions.
Acquired skills: Handling a computer program (s) based on FEM to study the stress and strain state of complex structures and obtaining lines of influence for different types of structures.
